Trouble staying on task

Have any of you ever had or maybe still have trouble with staying on task?  Trust me this has always been an issue with me for as long as I can remember.  I will never forget when the report cards would come out and there would be a little check mark beside the staying on task square which meant needs improvement.  Of course my little smile would go into a frown because I wanted a perfect report card for my parents to look at but of course with my challenges I felt like I couldn't give them that perfect report card.  Well anyway I felt like it DID improve a little bit when I got to middle school and High school because we switched classes and it seemed it just seemed easier to stay on task and concentrate on that particular assignment even though it might not have been easy.  :)
Well anyway I think part of the reason why it became a little easier to just focus on my school work was because I didn't enjoy reading for pleasure anymore.  The medications that I was taking were causing ringing in the ears and no matter how hard I would just try to read a novel in the quiet of my room I couldn't because it seemed like all I could hear was buzzing so I would say the only reading I would do would be for my homework assignments and such.  But anyway it had never left.  I still got sidetracked easily especially when a favorite show was on or say my mom got home from work, I'd stop what I was doing and greet everyone.
It was almost like I was Onyx LOL. Well anyway I would say it has gotten pretty bad again since I am no longer in school, and since I have had my brain surgery because I have no ringing in the ears and I can enjoy the pleasure of reading again which I would say is the culprit because they are preventing me from doing the task that I DO need to get done which is....... clean my room.  Every time I start I will pick up a few clothes and end up picking up the book and getting sucked into the wonderful story.  :)  Maybe I should ask mom to hide my books until the room is spotless LOL.  Well better go.  Sorry if this post sounded like I was complaining but I did need to share what I was feeling.  Hope you don't mind if I do that.  :)

A book switch; a lesson in the kitchen
Have any of you avid readers out there been in the middle of a book and then all of a sudden you just feel like you need a change in the genera you are reading?  Well that's what happened a couple days ago as I was reading my book.  As you guys know I was reading Catching Fire (The Second book in the Hunger Games Series) but the last couple days I was craving to read this a book from another genera?  I was craving to go back into time into the 1800's and read a historical fiction novel that Maria had made me get when we were in Louisville and I must say I can't put it down!  I will differentially put a review about it when I am done.
Yes, I will continue to read Catching Fire and the other last of the Hunger Games trilogy when I am in the mood for a sci fi/ fantasy switch.  Well anyway last night mom gave me a lesson in the kitchen.  She taught me how to cut the hard parts of the asparagus which I greatly enjoyed.  I must say I like to do the strangest kitchen jobs that people normally just dread.  I will give you a list.
                                     1. peel hard boiled eggs. (Not for doubled eggs.  When I peal them they don't real pretty LOL.
                                    2. cut up fruits and vegetables
                                     3. clean green beans
                                     4. peal the corn on the cob (Even though I am slow)
                                     5. cutting asparagus (new)
So if you are absolutely dreading doing any of those jobs I could always do those for you LOL.  :D  Well anyway better I am going to go read.  At this rate I will have a book review in no time.

                                                Discovering a newborn's personality
Well last night I finally got to meet baby Sophia in person which I must say was a joy.  My mom went on her lunch hour to see her the day before yesterday and the night before Rachel had some photos taken and sent them to Mark's phone,  Boy I must say she is a cutie.  We had decided to make stuffed shells once we got there along with a big salad and just enjoy each others company.  Yes aunt Millie and uncle Gary were there along with (Rachel's) Mark two girls and niece and we just enjoyed each others company especially fussing over Sophia.
It's funny because I was told by many people and was led to believe that newborns don't really have much of a personality because all they do is sleep, and go to the bathroom, and have to admit cry when they are hungry.  For the longest time I believed that until I spent time with Sophia I was told by Rachel she DOES have a personality.  Rachel was in labor for 28 hrs and wanted her to be born at 12 I think 12:30 but she didn't come till 1:15. Then we were all trying to get photos with her last night but she wouldn't open her eyes when Rachel wanted her to.  Rachel said she did that to them at the hospital during photos but did at the last second.
It was almost like Sophie was telling them "See I can open my eyes, but I am going to do it when I am ready."  LOL I don't think she's going to let anyone tell her what to do.  Anyway I discovered that she DOESN'T like to have her diaper changed or like to be laid down.  When she is swaddled in her blanket she likes her arms free, so she does have a personality.  So who says a newborn doesn't have a personality I know Sophia does.  :)

                                                 It's a girl
It happened! it finally happened Rachel's baby has arrived and you can tell from the title she has given a birth to a baby girl named Sophia at 1:15 pm today.  But I got to say yesterday and today were probably long and suspenseful for Rachel and to us. I think it was earlier last week I text her to see how she was doing and she said that if the baby wasn't yet out she had made her appointment to come into the hospital to induce contractions and so it began.  I don't know what it was but this pregnancy seemed to drag on forever.
It seemed to remind me of one of those celebrities that you hear about that are pregnant but that seems to drag on forever.  An example would be Jessica Simpson.  Her pregnancy seemed to go by slowly and it seemed like that's all they talked about.  It was like when is she ever going to have that baby? LOL.  Well anyway back to yesterday, I told mom that Rachel went into the hospital and that's when the texting began.  She was thinking that Sophia would be born around 5:30/6:00 but she was moving slowly so Rachel and her sister Bridget were keeping us updated with texts and I was doing the same with Uncle Roger, Aunt Karla, and a few others.
Well the time changed and we were thinking that Sophia wasn't going to be born until midnight.  LOL of course we are getting a little suspenseful because at the time no one knows the sex of the baby and I was anxious to find out because Rachel asked me to guess the sex at the shower and I guessed a boy.  Now you know I was wrong but like I told you before I wasn't as confident as I was when I made my guess when aunt Karla was expecting Luke.  But I wasn't the only one who guessed a boy.  Mom was so sure that it was going to be a boy because of her experience with James and Nathan.
She said they were slow and the dr had to get them out but I on the other hand just came right out but it just shows that girls can be just as stubborn.  Well anyway I am sure she is really beauitful and I wish Rachel the best of luck.

A tough time in the kitchen
Boy what a day I had in the kitchen yesterday.  Yesterday I was having an off day.  For the last few days I had a bad sore throat, upset stomach, and a little bit of a head ache but I didn't know sick I was until I laid down to sleep.  For the record after my attempt of making something to eat which I wasn't successful at.  I first tried to make some hard boiled eggs.  I have always loved hard boiled eggs.  They are easy to pick up and eat but they are not as easy to make as I thought.  LOL. :)
Since my mom had already left for work I had looked up directions on the internet but I didn't choose the right site.  So I failed the hard boiled eggs which was a drag because that is what I was really craving.  So then I decided to make myself some chicken salad which didn't turn out so good.  Our automatic can opener broke, but I was still able to get the can open but the lid was still attached, and then I didn't have any of the ingredients that I put in the salad except for the mayo so I just had to invent which didn't turn out so well but I ate a few bites but then I just had to throw it away.  So I just went back to sleep without anything else to eat which didn't bother me because my  stomach was starting to do summer sults.  I am happy to say that I am feeling a little better today though.  Well better get going.  Till next time

                                            National Friend's day
Isn't funny how they have special days for certain things or foods?  A few months back it was announced on Good Morning America that it was national grilled cheese day, and then just a month ago it was announced it was national lemonade day, and then national ice cream day and the list goes on and on.  Yes they actually have a day devoted to twins and my grandpa got a kick out of that when he got a call from uncle Bob (his identical twin) wishing him happy twin's day.  But anyway as I was checking my facebook status I learned that yesterday or the day before was national friendship day and that put a smile to my face.  I have so many good friends I sent them each a text who I had access to their cell phone number and this is what it said: I just learned that it is national friendship day.  To all I am sending this message to, I hope I am being a good friend and I couldn't have asked for better friends.
I of course sent one to Katey, Hailee, Becca, Jess, and to Cara )Becca's youngest sister.) and I also sent one to a friend named melanie that I told you about earlier in the year that I met in an epilepsy chat room.   that I joined.  It feels good to have a friend who knows what I had to go through before I had surgery.  For the record Hailee, Jess, Becca, and Cara text me wishing me a happy friendship day as well and it was sweet and so did Melanie.  But anyway I couldn't leave out my followers either.  Any of you that read my blog I consider you a friend so even though it may be a day or two days late happy friendship day :) XOXO

My Hall of Fame weekend update
Well it's Sunday and if you have been following and reading my recent posts you know that I am at my dad's.  Yes dad picked me yesterday yesterday afternoon around noon like he had planned and grandpa got really anxious he was yelling for me to let him in so we stuck around and visited a good two hours before we hit the road to do some grocery shopping and to head over to his place to chill.  In fact I was going to blog yesterday but then I figured I would wait until today which you know is Sunday and give day a title and describe a little about that day.  I don't know why but I like doing that better because it is less confusing and it breaks it up for the readers a bit.   Let's see I will start with Friday.
Friday squirrel chasing; ribs burn off
Friday evening as you all know I was going to grandma's to hang out while Mark and mom went out to dinner and to get ready for their golf outing.  I was looking forward to it until I heard we were going to the ribs burn off.  I won't go into detail on why I didn't want to go.  They are a little too personal to put on here.  But anyway I told my mom and she nodded in understanding.
But anyway I promised I would make the best of it.  Anyway after mom dropped me off and visited a while grandma and I read our books and as we were reading I heard grandpa shouting outside and as I run outside he has a newspaper in his hand swatting it at a squirrel yelling at it for it to get out of the bird feeder.  It didn't budge where he almost had to chase it out of there. If I had a smart phone I would have recoded it and send it to a couple people LOL.  Yes he did finally leave.  Grandma said she no longer purchases bird feed anymore because of those squirrels, she gives them left over bread.
So you know the ribs burn off was just all right in my opinion.  It was really crowded.  Grandpa must have waited 20 minutes in line to get our ribs and we all agreed they could have been cooked longer.  Grandpa thought he got a raw one.  :(
                                       Saturday dad's Menu; Olympic time
Well I don't have to explain about the grocery shopping or the visit but I will explain what he had planned for the menu as far as cooking.  Yesterday we had steaks, along with baked potatoes and today we had sausage gravy and biscuits for breakfast along with pasta and meatballs for dinner.  But yes we had watched some of the olympics together as he was cooking yesterday and probably today.  We saw an olympian who ran for the first time yesterday who had both his legs amputated and came in second place.  :)  Great man he was!  :)  you go dude!
Well I am not going to make a title for this day because you can count the very first title My Hall Of Fame update as the Sunday's title.  So yes I guess I am done.  So you know I am still reading The second book in The Hunger Games series.  I have been mainly reading it at night because I have been busy with other projects.  I just filled out forms to volunteer at Canton city school district.  I think that will be fun don't you think?  Well better get going bye.

                                        A busy month ahead
Finally it is August.  I Don't know about you to me  July was kind of a slower month than usual for some reason.  I think it's because there are a couple of pregnant women in our family and they are due around the same time.  You already know that Rachel is due on August 22 and we don't know the sex of the baby but we know the names are.  Now Mark's nephew Josh's wife is expecting as well around the same time and we know the it's boy but we don't know the name.  Josh and his family are secretive about that.
Please don't ask me which one I am more excited to hear about but if I have to choose I would have to say Rachel because I see her more.  In fact at her baby shower she had me guess the sex of the baby.  I guessed a boy.  If I told you that I am sorry.  Well anyway in edition to that this weekend is the hall of fame and that means mark and mom will be golfing.  No I will not just be sitting around the house, I will be going to grandma's and grandpa's house Friday and then to dad's Saturday.
Dad is going to pick me up at their house.  But anyway during the 10th Grandpa has his shoulder replacement surgery.  Uncle Rick and Judy are coming in from South Carolina and so is Uncle Roger.  From what I hear grandpa only has to spend one night at the hospital.  Well anyway a day after is the 11th and that is the day that I three years ago that I had my last seizure that I ever remember when I was having a MRI done before my brain surgery but I can't say that was my last because I was told that I could have had one on August 13th the day of my surgery as they were operating so I always count August 13th as the anniversary of being seizure free.  This year will be 3 years.   That would be a record I think the longest I have gone was 3 months maybe 4.  Well I will keep you updated on every event that goes on.  I better go.  Lots of love.
