How I became Frodo and receiving a surprise
As you guys already know my nickname has been Frodo since eighth grade but Jess sent me a comment on my last post asking me to share the story of how I received that name. It's so funny because I wasn't a fan of The Lord Of The Rings when it first came out but everyone else on the other hand loved it. Well anyway when it first came out on DVD we were on our way to South Carolina to visit my uncle and his family for Thanksgiving. We only had one portable DVD player at the time and of course everyone wanted to watch it on the way there. I was over ruled. I remember mom saying
"You may really like it." LOL I didn't say anything but I thought
" Yeah right, this is going to be a stupid bloody film," but I was wrong. It was funny because it sped up time and when the the battery started getting low . I was like,
"Noooooooooo not now." Nathan and mom laughed when they saw the disappointment on my face. James on the other hand was driving and wasn't paying attention but just smiled. On that trip we did finally finish the DVD at my uncle's. We played the DVD so much it is now all scratched up. But anyway the more I watched the more I admired Frodo.
I don't know what it was about him. I don't know if it was because he was the protagonist or because of his bravery or of his character qualities or his features or just the mixture of them. But anyway my eighth grade teacher Mrs. Maier used to call me a nick name that I didn't like. I will not even say it. I finally told her to think of a new one for me and she asked me what one of my favorite characters from a movie or a book was and at that time I was into Lord Of The Rings so I said Frodo.
So she started calling me Frodo. It's so funny because at one time she thought she thought I had a crush on Elijah Wood who played him in the films but I really didn't. It's so funny because I didn't think that name would last long but it has. On a few of my birthday cakes it has read HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRODO. Okay well anyway now to the surprising news I received from mom last night.
I don't know what event they went to at the Civic center but it turned out that mom won a gift certificate to see Little Women the musical at the players guild for two. She tip toed to my room and opened my door and said
"Guess what I won, and showed me the certificate, we are going to see Little Women." My heart beat with excitement at at reading both the words musical and Little Women. I have always loved that book and I have always loved musicals. I can't wait to see how this one turns out! I better sign off for now!
Lots Of Love,
Heather AKA Frodo
