Just out of curiosity how many of you ladies out there were a girl scout or a troop leader or just helped out with girl scouts what ever it be transporting them to their destinations out of school or purchasing some delicious cookies? I can answer that question, yes I was a girl scout for a couple years in elementary school and made a few good friends. I remember doing the whole experience telling mom I wanted to be a girl scout, going to the mall to pick out my uniform, getting introduced and singing the songs and yes selling the delicious cookies. I remember it being lots of fun but I also having down times too that I can laugh at now. One of those memories was that I had spilled chocolate milk all over my brownie girl scout top that I was wearing one day and the lunch monitor had to help me change. I remember it being so embarrassing.
Well anyway last week at church I had found out that today they were honoring girl scouts and their leaders. The girl scouts could show up in uniform and be handed special religious metals that were blessed by the priest himself and at the end they would be selling the cookies. Yes that's how it went today, dad picked me up and as we walked in we saw all the girl scouts in uniform of all ages and yes the mass went on as normal but the priest had one of the girls read one of the readings and after communion the girl scouts got announced and received their metals and then we were asked to applaud and prey for them. He then asked for any other woman to stand who was formally a girl scout.
"He said once a girl scout always a girl scout!" Yes I did stand and it did feel good to get a round of applause even though I Don't necessarily like it lol.:) Well better go. I am sorry I haven't been blogging lately I have been busy but I will try a little harder since I am not facebooking at the moment. :) Since it's girl scout sunday I want to see if you can of my readers/ girl scouts know the words to this song.
Make new __but keep the old, one is ____ and the other's ____
A circle's round, it has no _____ that's how long I want to be your _____
Comment and let me know what you think the missing words are. This was one of the first songs I learned when I joined my troop. :)

A new month, a new activity
Can you believe that it's actually March already? It's funny because February always seems to go fast because it is the month with the least days which is 28 or in a leap year 29. But anyway it just seems like I have been busy then ever these last few weeks. Yes as you know I gave up Facebook for lent and I am continuing to do well with it. I joined this site Meet up to get involved with a group that fulfills my interest and one of them as you know is playing games so there is a local board and card game card that gets together every Saturday in a local cafe in Canton and plays games from 2:00 in the afternoon till 5:00 pm. When I told mom about the site she didn't seem to pleased because I found this group over the internet but she checked the site out and Joy told her that is the site that SHE had found a group of ladies she had gathered with to have tea with in Cincinnati.
In the mean time I was talking with a couple of these members of this group including the host Mike. He says I was more then welcome to bring friends, and games, which was the idea. The members are supposed to bring a couple anyway and it is just supposed to be three hours of fun filled games and yes I already have a feeling that this a group for me. I DON'T play enough games at home. Yes because it is my first time attending Joy will accompany me. :)
I will keep you posted on how everything went and if I am going to stick with it. If you are wondering if I am going to bring any games I sure am, I am going to bring SORRY, UNO, and maybe Apples to Apples if I can find it. :) Yes if you are still wondering I am still going to Holly's. Jeez I am always so exhausted when I come home from there. Of course there are the kids and when they are in bed we stay up till 1:30 2:00 AM and still get up early.
Yes I am still working on the novel and yes going to church. :) So yes getting myself busy and out there. Well better get going. XOXO

The novel writting has begun
Well it's official! I am now done with the brainstorming process of my new adventure sci fi novel and I have just began to write the ACTUAL novel. When I brainstorm it means that write down all the names of the characters that I have created, their companions, their weapons and tools that they are going to use ect and what each of them will look like so that when I start the ACTUAL writing I can look back and not forget my ideas. Sometimes I will not use all of them but I WILL use most or maybe tweek a few things here and there. I decided to tell it from the first person point of view and it will be told from the protagonist of course. :) I was going to make it multiple narrators but the more I thought about it it might be confusing for me to write and it might be confusing to the reader as well so one narrator it is.
I am hand writing it out on notebook paper and then I will type it out on my i pad mini. I don't know what it is but I still LOVE to hand write on actual paper and see the pages pile up and the downside is the microsoft app that I downloaded doesn't let you know how many pages you typed. :( If you want to know how many pages I have done so far only 1. See I wanted to do it so bad yesterday but mom was off and was on a cleaning spree, vacuuming, ect so she had me clean my room too so I had to abandon the novel writing for the time. But hey got today LOL. :)
I think giving up facebook was a good idea for lent and so far I have been doing great. I HAVEN'T cheated. I deleted the icon from my cell so I am not temped so yahoo rock on! you forget how much you are addicted to it until you go without it. When I told my mom that I gave it up for lent she asked what I was going to do and I said work on my novel and sure enough that's what I had been doing.
I would probably still be on brainstorming if I haven't given it up. Well anyway better go. XOXO

Valentine's day fun
Well it's valentine's day one again and like I said on here last year it's a day where you show your spouse or that special someone that you truly care for them. Yes as you know I am still single and almost everyone I know including Ricky who was my valentine last year now has a girl friend. I must admit this yesterday and the weeks before that I was NOT looking forward to today because as you know I am still single and I thought everyone was going to be ignoring me and just be kissing their loved one but so far I was wrong. Sure there was still some hugging and kissing but mom said Happy valentines day and I told her that I loved her. So anyway mom said we are going to be having some fun.
No one will be going out for a movie or dinner or anything. For the record we are doing that Saturday. A group of us are planning to go see the Movie Safe Haven and then Monday Mark and mom are going out together. If you ask if I am going out this week so far I am going to Holly's for my usual visit and then going to church with dad this Sunday. I am trying to find a group where I can join to meet other people. :) Well anyway today we are making cookies for Mark as part of our fun so it will be fun and not just be focused on the couples or at least in my family. Well I better go. Happy valentine's day everyone :) xoxo
Just in case you are wondering why I am not on Facebook it's because I gave it up for lent. What did you give up for lent if you give something up? Comment and let me know.

Back to the catholic church I go
Yes it has been awhile since I mentioned church hasn't it? If you remember I was attending church frequently with Jess and I was constantly updating you on the sermons and what I ate for lunch afterwords but as you know the updates about the sermons stopped coming. It wasn't that I wasn't paying attention in fact I was but there were times where I would start feeling uncomfortable and wonder to myself "What am I doing here? am I allowed to be here?" I mean don't get me wrong I knew I was more then welcome but there were masses where I felt like I wasn't because I knew I WASN'T baptist like when they took communion and I couldn't. Heck there was one time when I felt confused on what religion I was period, after going to church with Jess so long and after returning to a Catholic church I felt out of place and I felt the need to cry.
That was when Sophia's baptism took place and if you remember I was going through a rough time besides that. I was glad to have some time away from church and just spend time with the family to think things out. Well anyway this month I finally made up my mind and ask my dad to attend church regularly with him and sure enough he said I could. We attended mass at St Paul's and I felt at home there after 3 years of not setting foot in that church. In fact I used to attend church there regularly with my dad before I had brain surgery but after I came back we decided to hold off on the church visits and wait till I was recovered.
But during the recovery I had moved in with mom since I was living with dad at the time and he thought I didn't want to go. :( But anyway I am so excited to be doing this because it will give me a chance to bond with dad more then just once a month. Yes, just in case you want to know I DID tell Jess that I wasn't coming with her regularly but there would be times where I would still go and I also text her father in law thanking him for making me feel welcome. I just felt like it's just something I had to do. Well better get going lots of love,

A year of blog posts
I can't believe how time flies. In fact yesterday I was looking through previous blog posts and I realized that TODAY marks a year that I created this blog, Heather's corner. It seems like only yesterday I was asking mom for ideas on names and she suggested Heather's corner. Of course I knew people would read it and I knew I would get a few followers since I have a big family and a few friends but there were people who were so set on logging in and reading my posts. Of course I have my blog set so that anyone can read it and just because you are not logged onto a google account you can still acess it through my facebook info page as well.
But anyway I notice that many people have read my posts and it not always by the people that have joined the site. As you could tell I blog just about everything but my mom has encouraged me to leave out my bitter feelings or if I am having a bad day to not post anything at all but if you can tell there are an occasional posts that are not really appropriate but if you look back you can notice a bitter feeling or two of mine and I highly apologize for that. But for all those who have been reading the posts constantly you notice there are book reviews, posts about church, and family and friends and events I have attended and I hope you enjoyed reading and getting to know me better. :) Comment and let me know how you think I am doing with this blog. Hope you continue to read :) bye.XOXO

A test of patience
Do any of you have one of those days when someone or something tests your patience and you get mad or frustrated? I think everyone has those days and yesterday my friend Holly and I were both having one of them. For the record Holly is a friend of mine from high school and I must say just like Jess, and Becca, she has been one of my loyal and truest friends and we have both been through a lot. She used to help when I had my epileptic seizures. But anyway WE both got dumped by our longtime elementary best friends and both just needed each other even though we both had other friends.
In fact we used to ice skate together as well and it was neat because we both knew what it was like to have a challenge even though it might not have been the same one she knew what it was like to be underestimated. Well anyway we decided to get together once a week and spend time with each other. I take the bus service over there and it has worked out so far. :) Well anyway it has been nice so far because she is a stay at home mom and I am unemployed trying to work on a book and of course blogging time to time so it gets me out of the house. So anyway I am sure you're wondering about how our patience was tested so here it goes.
(Escape of the dogs)
This was how my patience was tested. As I mentioned in another post James and Joy have been staying with us with their two dogs Boggart, and Bella. Well anyway yesterday was the day that they left to go to Cincinnati to stay with uncle Roger and to explore the area and that and to search for jobs and such. Well anyway after they left of course who was left with the little rascals meaning Bella and Boggart and the furry beast meaning Onyx but me such everyone had left for work and I think Nathan was asleep. Well anyway as I opened the door to catch the bus Boggart, and Bella dashed out and ran in different directions. Boggart ran down the street and kept running and I had to run after him.
Where was Bella you might ask? She was across the street in our neighbor's yard. I literally felt like screaming. The bus driver was very nice and helped me get them in. I was still recovering from that incident when I arrived at Holly's she said it reminded her of the aftermath of my seizures. She asked if I was ok and I told her what what had happened and she hugged me and she laughed and said
"Oh jeez, well come on in and let's have some fun."
(The whining and squealing of children)
I think this mostly tested Holly's patience but I can't lie when I say I had to work on it too. When I came in of course Holly's daughter Alyssa was there to greet me but Holly was in the middle of cleaning the kitchen when I arrived and of course I wanted to help but Alyssa wanted to also and wanted to stand on a chair between us and hand me plates and dishes to dry but there were times where she would just want to play with the dishes and there were some dishes that she WASN'T allowed to touch like the knives and if Holly said no she would start whining and screaming. She wasn't the only one who screamed. Holly's son Simon would do it too. But his was a happy squeel and he is almost a year but still it could get loud at times but it was cute :)
But anyway Simon wasn't the one who wasn't testing the patience it was Alyssa. After we had made a batch of sugar cookies and after Alyssa had her lunch it was time for her nap which she did not do. She lay there and talked while Holly and I watched a movie which of course made her, Alyssa more cranky I think. But yes we had to listen to Alyssa whine the rest of the day and even after my attempt of saying, "Use your words," she didn't stop. So yes that's how our patience was tested.
( How I handle it)
I always try to see the good in everything that comes way even in a cases such as that, like the incident with the dogs yes it wasn't pleasant at the time but chasing after Boggart and Bella sure did burn some extra calories and give me a good work out for the day. Now for the whining incident when I look at Holly and when she asks me to do things it makes good practice for when I baby sit someday or when I become a mother myself. :) Well anyway better go. XOXO
