Taking on obstacles
Well this is the weekend I will be taking on some obstacles that I have been putting off. Well actually one of them I have been working on somewhat during the evenings but I want to work harder on during the day and that is making some final decisions on my novel. It seems like I can't remember anything that I had typed ever since my lousy laptop got that virus. I have been trying to start over in creating this novel I might ask Jess for help since she used to write herself. Well anyway another obstacle I will be taking on is my room.
I have to admit I can let my room get a little messy but the beauty about having a small room is it is quick to straiten up but today I am going to do everything such as vacuum, dust, you name it. I noticed that it had to get done a week ago when I took a good look at the room but the nice temperatures prevented me from doing it but I just have to get it done so it will probably be the first thing I do. Just in case you are wondering if we ended up going to Eddy's fish restaurant last night for dinner we did and sure enough I had finally ate a meal that I was satisfied with. When mom had met us there she had brought Katey and sure enough we had a good time.
She hadn't planned on it but we persuaded her to ride home with us and stay the night. For the record she keeps clothes in the spare bed room since she is a frequent guest. After we had came home Mark was craving popcorn so mom made some homemade and we ate that while we watched the TV show What would you do. Well anyway I better get going.
Lots of Love,

Preparing a dish
Well you guessed it, I was part of the cooking crew yesterday at preparing dinner. A few weeks ago Mark had brought home this tasty broccoli salad that we all enjoy from fishers to have as a side dish along with our sausage and brats. Sure is tasty but Mark said that it is very expensive. A pound of the salad cost about $6 and he picked up 2 pounds and sure enough that was about 12 dollars. For that reason and just to try something new I decided to look on the internet for similar broccoli salad recipes and sure enough I had found one.
Mom was for it and she said on her next day off I could go ahead and make it and sure enough I did. We ended up having that along with pork loin, cream of Parmesan rice. Sure enough it was pretty darn good. I've got to admit I wasn't thrilled with the broccoli salad at first but everyone else LOVED it especially Mark. Mom even told me that the more it sits the better it tastes and sure enough when I tasted the salad again this morning in the fridge I found that it DID taste better and I now love it and I would make it again.
Mark asked about the price and when mom looked at the receipt she said it was cheeper to make our own. Mom says we might be bringing this salad to our family gatherings so I think we will be having that again. It is sure a pretty salad LOL. Here's the recipe.
1 head broccoli
6 to 8 slices of bacon cooked
1/2 cup red onion
8 ounces sharp cheddar cut into small chucks
1/2 cup raisins or craisions (optional) I personally prefer craisions but you don't need to put any of them in.
1/2 cup half slices cherry tomato
For the dressing: 1 cup mayo
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoon vinegar
Trim off leaves from the broccoli stem and remove the tough stalk at the end and wash head. Add crumpled bacon, onion, cheese, and all the other ingredients in a bowel and enjoy. It is better the next day but it is still delicious the day you make it. Sprinkle some salt and fresh black pepper before you mix it all up.
If you guys do try this recipe let me know how it turns out and comment.
Well I better go.
Till next Time,
Heather

Record breaking temps/thoughts on wrtting
Well it's spring, but you wouldn't have guessed it by these record breaking temps we have been receiving it feels like it should be summer. I heard that the temps should be in the high 40's mid 50's this time of year in Cleveland / Akron Ohio but that's not the case. For the last couple of days I tried to get my walk in the morning before the heat comes. Luckily we will have a few days of relief coming up.

I heard that the temps should be in the high 40's mid 50's this time of year in Cleveland / Akron Ohio but that's not the case. For the last couple of days I tried to get my walk in the morning before the heat comes. Luckily we will have a few days of relief coming up.
For the record I have really enjoyed these nice sunny days. They have been really nice for walks and just sitting out and enjoying the evening. Mom brought the seat cushions up from the basement and on St patrick's day evening Hailee, mom, Mark, and I sat out and chat on the patio. I even took my binder that has all my notes that has to do with my novel outside and did some writing outside. I thought the change in atmosphere might help me get started.
For some reason I will start writing a page and than I will re read and I will just despise how I had written it so far or I should feel that I should have done better. Like I said in another post I have always had a love for writing. In fact I used to write short stories when I was younger but after I was done I would crumple them up and throw them away, my dream in 5th grade was to be an author and it continued till 9th grade. I have to say though in 9th grade everything changed because I felt like I was feeling stressed out during English during writing because of the Ohio Graduation Test that would take place our sophomore year and that we had to write a certain style so it made robbed me for my love for writing which was a shame because I remember one of my teachers reading one of my stories and she told me that I would make a great author which made my heart smile. But there seemed people that I will not even mention that just thought the interest of writing was weird.
I asked mom that question I would say a month a go and she laughed and she said writing a book is not weird, it is a gift." You have always wanted to be author at such a young age. Becca even suggests submitting my novel to be published. I laughed and said
"One thing at a time girl I am not even close to being finished with this novel, this is going to be much longer than my 28 page short story." I told you guys that the novel would be written in first person point of view but I am changing it to 3rd person limited. I just think it's a bit easier. Well I better sign off for now.

Last day of Winter!
Wow it's the last day of winter I can hardly believe it. That means tomorrow will be the first day of Spring. In fact I thought that it was already Spring because of this nice weather we have been having. Mark had told me that my grandparents were jealous of the temperatures that we were receiving. I had to laugh when I was told that because they shouldn't have any reason to be jealous. They are in Florida and they should be receiving nice weather unless they are receiving scorching hot temps.
For the record the corn beef that we had on St Patrick's day was delicious but there was one time during the day that the crock pot got un plugged and that caused the cabbage to be a tad under cooked but it still came out all right. Everyone loved it so much mom considered going out and picking up another and having it again yesterday but that didn't happen. In a way I was relieved because I do not like to have the same meal the next day. Instead we had steak kabobs, rice, and a salad. It was pretty darn good and Katey had spent another night. During dinner Katey and I made plans of what we were going to do on the 30th through the 1st.
That is the weekend where Mark and mom are going on their romantic getaway and Katey will be coming to stay a few nights with me to keep me company and just to have some fun. Like I said on my previous post Joy will also be coming and so will Hailee but we don't want any boys such as Nathan. Mom and Katey want us to hang a sign on the front door saying NO BOYS ALLOWED. Katey and mom asked if Jess would be joining us and I told them I would love for her to join us but I also shared of how her fiance is a truck driver and it seems like the only time she really gets to see him is the weekends and I don't want her to feel guilty about leaving him. Katey than came up with the idea of asking her to join us on our movie and dinner night Friday night and she could leave whenever she feels like it so I text her and I am just waiting for an answer. We will have a fun time.
For the record this morning has been funny! Mom has been cleaning and checking her phone for messages. Katey has been on her phone most of the morning trying to choose a new ringtone. She has been browsing through her apps so I have been hearing some pretty funny, interesting, and neat ringtones. Well I better go.

St. Patrick's day tradition
Wow I can hardly believe it's St. Patrick's day already. LOL I remember when we were told by our elementary school teachers to wear green and making shamrocks and other crafts that have to do with the irish and when we would come home we would smell the corn beef and cabbage cooking in the crock pot. As you know we no longer attend grade school but the meal hasn't changed. We still to this day have corn beef and cabbage. I am not sure on this but I think this is about the only time mom and Mark make it.
For the record I think I have it more than they do because I visit dad. He loves it and he seems to make it every other time I go over there. I think I go over there every month. But anyway this evening Katey will be joining us and spending the night. Hope she is doing well with her driving.
Anyway yesterday we went to another fish fry. I had expected us to go to the same place where we went last week and expected to see aunt Millie and Uncle Gary and everyone else who had joined us last week but that wasn't the case. We ended up going to St. Joseph's. It was where my mom attended grade school. When we entered there were photos of students that made their first communion.
Mom was obsessed in trying to find her photo but I don't think she had much luck. But anyway as we were eating I shared the news that I got from Jess about her bridal shower and the date it fell on which is April 14th. Mom seemed shocked and said that I should have gotten an invite a month earlier. I was like,
"Mom she's only a couple days late from spreading the news and it's not like it's the wedding." Mark was in agreement and the more mom thought about it the more she agreed. She said the wedding invites should go out a month in advance. But Jess seems to be on it. Well anyway Mark and I did not care for some of the food that we ordered.
Mark had ordered for all of us and had ordered mom and I a one piece fish dinner while he ordered a two piece fish along with some shrimp. that came with a side of french fries and cole slaw, or apple sauce. Mom and I chose the cole slaw while Mark chose apple sauce. I had told mom that I had much rather of had the shrimp rather than the fish. So in the end Mark and I split everything including dessert.
Like I said Mark nor I cared for the food. I thought the fish was tasty but the shrimp wasn't that great neither was the cole slaw or the french fries. I made the wrong choices again like I did at the other place but at least all their food was tasty. Mark than suggested that we go to a restaurant called Eddys next week. They have never been there before but I have been there twice with my grandparents and it is a great!
They have excellent fish and their onion rings are to die for. So that might be our next place next week. Well I better get going.

Shaken up
Boy did anyone get woken up by the thunderstorm that occurred this morning or during the night? It sure startled me awake. For the record I always like a good storm during the day or early evening but not when it wakes me up when I am trying to sleep. I remember someone telling me when I was little that a thunderstorm meant that the angels were bowling in heaven. I think it was Rachel or my older cousin Mandi who told me that.
Anyway yesterday mom had her day off. She was really busy re doing the office for Mark. She was trying so hard trying to be finished by the time he got home so that he he could be surprised. She had me help by lifting up a side of this huge roll on desk. Yeah I wasn't much help there. All I did was freak her out enough for her to yell at me.
The side of the desk that I was holding onto slipped out of me before I could say anything. It had dropped on the floor and I managed to get out of the way. Boy why do I have to be the one to ALWAYS freak mom out. But anyway I didn't say anything as she yelled I just felt hopeless and shaken. As I made my way upstairs a burst of anger rushed through me, it made me want to hit something or just throw something.
I did lightly throw a tube of tooth paste and I took a couple deep breaths and I was fine. Jeez that was nothing compared to my very old tantrums. Whew they were a night mare. I than thought it was best I just get out of the house for a bit and go for a walk and that's what I did. Mom than apologized for the way she spoke. She just said
"I just was afraid you were going to get hurt." I nodded and accepted it but in a way I feel like I don't deserve that apology. But anyway taking the walk cheered me up but in a way I am still a little shaken. Well anyway after today I should be as good as new. It always takes me a couple days to get over something like that.
I am sure everyone at Dillards knows this but Katy got her driver's license. She texted me the news on the 13th when I was taking my walk. She said we are going to have so much fun when Mark and mom go out of town. I forget what weekend they are going but they were originally going to go to Cincinnati with a couple other couples to see my uncle Roger's restaurant but I heard that my cousin Emilia's spring break might have fallen on that weekend so they might be taking her out of town that weekend so I think they are going somewhere else now. Joy is going to join us also wants Hailee to take part and I even asked if I could have Jess join us if we do something at the house or to a movie and she said sure. So we are going to have a blast!
Well I better go.

A Day filled with birthdays
Jeez it seems like this month is flying by for some reason. It seems like only yesterday it was March 1st and here it is March 13th. I am sure it doesn't feel that way for mom though because of gift. I am sure she is counting down the days till it is over and when she can have her normal days off again. Right now she only has one day off a week when normally she has two.
Best of luck to her and to all the girls at the CLINIQUE counter. Well anyway today seems to be a day filled with birthdays. I had always known that my grandma and dad were born the same day but during the fish fry last week I had learned that my cousin Bridget had also had a birthday. I am not totally sure on the ages my grandma or Bridget are turning but I DO know the age my dad will be turning. He will be turning 60.
Mom said that she was teasing him about it the last time he came into the mall but he gave it right back at her since she will be turning 50 this May. But anyway I'd just thought that share a little bit about dad, grandma, and Bridget since it is their special day.
Dad: I can always be able to count on him when things are tough and he seems to always make me smile. I love his sense of humor and just being able to listen to his silly songs and to be able to enjoy his cooking. He seemed to shock me the last summer when he lived on lake cable when he told me to jump into the water without any kind of life jacket when I had gone a whole year without seizures.
Grandma: Just like many grandmothers she's fun and supportive. I enjoy playing cards, and other games and just spending time with her.
Bridget: I don't spend or talk to her all that much like I do the others but I wish I did but the time the I do spend with her and her husband are enjoyable. She is a kindergarten teacher. She is so nice and sweet and I just love to see her smile. Well Happy Birthday to all of them! I got to go.
Love,
Heather
